Overview

This section explains the recommended hardware for the scanners as well as the SSH setup process.

Recommended Hardware

Any device with a barcode reader, internet access, and that support an SSH connection will serve. In order to efficiently scan fresh cut flower boxes, a pistol grip scanner would be the best option.  Regardless of the make and model heavy duty equipment should be used in order to survive the conditions in the warehouse.

Wi-Fi

The scanning application runs in real time and therefore, it needs to be connected to the internet in order to run. We strongly suggest that you perform a Wi-Fi site survey in your warehouse(s) with a company that has experience with wireless infrastructure.

Please, contact Komet Sales so they can generate the Scanner Username and Password. Also, make sure to send us the IP address to where the scanner will be connected to so we can create everything on our end.

SSH Setup

Komet Sales uses a text based application that is executed via SSHconnection.  In order to connect to the scanning server, you will need a terminal program running on the scanner with SSH support (i.e.: TelnetCE, Wavelink or others).  Once you have the software on the scanner you will need to create a profile which will require the following information:

  • Host (the IP address of the scan server)
  • User
  • Password
  • Port

Connection Information

This information will be provided during the implementation process. Keep in mind that a Komet Sales company user is required exclusively to set up and use the scanner functions.
