Aging is the determined period of time that starts once a product is received in an inventory. For pricing, this is of utmost importance due to the fact that as products age, the lower price they will have. Komet allows keeping track of it from several screens. |
How the Aging is Calculate?
Once an arrival date is assigned to an in-transit product, their aging will start running.
Current Date - Arrival Date
For instance, if the current date is January 28th but the arrival date was previously set for January 25th (a date in the past), the age of that specific product would be three (3).
On the other hand, if the current date is February 1st and the arrival date of a given product was set for February 5th (a date in the future), the age of that specific product would be minus four (- 4)Anchor | ||||

Aging
Aging implies that when you receive a product in inventory, it begins to deteriorate, causing its price to decrease over time.
Komet enables you to track product aging across multiple screens.
Color Indicators
The system colors
product lines

age. You can view these in the following options within the Inventory tab:
Inventory Summary section > Inventory in boxes
Inventory Summary section > Inventory in units (When the arrival date and unit age settings are enabled).

Only admin users can enable the setting named Show arrival date and aging that will allow users to see it from the Inventory in Units. |

How to Set the Arrival Date
- The arrival date can be set from the Staging Area. For more information read Setting the Arrival Date in the Staging Area.
- In multilocation companies, the system allows setting a different arrival date per location (even if they are associated with the same AWB).
- Remember authorized users can also set the arrival date from the AWB Summary. For more information, please read the section Establishing and Changing Arrival Date per Location in Tracking AWBs.
- To set the arrival date of hard goods, go to Inventory>>Inventory Summary>>Hard goods inventory. Click on Receive Purchase Order (or click on edit for a given product line). You will be able to set the arrival date of the Purchase Order where the hard good belongs.
Aging for Inventory in Units and Hard Goods
The system does allow to visualize the arrival date for the hard goods inventory. For units, this information is hidden by default, however, admin users can enabled a setting named Show arrival date and aging that will allow users to see the arrival date and aging information from the units inventory.
Maximum Aging for Inventory Products
By default, the maximum aging of the products displayed in the inventory screen is 180. Therefore, products with greater aging will be hidden. This value can be changed from the product setup screen. For further information about this option, read How to Set Up a Max Age for Inventory Products.
Aging from sales screens
The aging is not always visible for salespeople, this could be hidden through the Inventory Options>>Hide Sensitive Data. Additional to this, there is a setting per user that allows restricting the visualization of the aging from the sales screens. The setting is named Hide Sensitive Data on Sales Screens.Product aging value from its arrival date. | Green | |

Additional Aging information
Maximum Aging
The system has the maximum aging set by default in the Inventory Products and in the E-commerce as follows:
Products displayed in the Inventory tab have a maximum aging of 180; therefore, the system hides products with greater aging.
You can change this value from the product setup screen. To learn more, read Set the Max Age for Products in your Inventory.E-commerce displays products with a maximum aging of 30. Nevertheless, companies can set different maximum age restrictions per product, category, customer, or company. To learn more, read How to Set Up the Max Age for the E-commerce Products.
Aging from the Sales screen
Some viewing restrictions may stop displaying the product's Aging on the sales screen. To fix this, you must adjust the user-specific setting named Hide Sensitive Data in Inventory Options. To learn more, read Hide Sensitive Data on Sales Screen.
Automatic Sell Fast Option
There is a setting that allows to mark items with a lightning bolt icon, so the sales team is aware that those items need to be sold as soon as possible.
To learn more, read Enable the Automatic Sell Fast Option.
Max Age for E-commerce Products
By default, the maximum age to display products in E-commerce, is 30. However, companies can set up a different maximum age restriction per product, category, customer, or even per company. For further information about this, please read How to Set Up the Max Age for the E-commerce Products.
Arrival Date
Knowing the arrival date of a product is crucial because it helps us accurately calculate its age. The arrival date of a product refers to the day it is expected to enter the inventory.
For example, let's take a look at the following tables:
Today | Arrival date product | Aging (In days) |
---|---|---|
January 18 | January 15 (a date in the past) | 3 days |
If the current date is January 18, and the arrival date you had set for the product is January 15 (it arrived a few days ago), its age would be three days since that's the difference between the two dates.
Today | Arrival date product | Aging (In days) |
---|---|---|
January 18 | January 22 (a date in the future) | -4 days |
But on the other hand, if the current date is January 28, and the arrival date you set is February 5 (it still needs to arrive), the age of that product would be negative four (-4) days since aging or deterioration starts counting from the moment of arrival.
