Important Announcement on the Printing Component

In this article, you will learn how to update your printing component and Java version to keep having a seamless experience.

User Roles: Admin.

Please complete this process before January 14 to avoid having issues when running the printing component with a previous version.


Requirements

To update the printing component, you need to do the following action items:

  1. Have admin access to the server or computer to install system services.

  2. You must be running Java Runtime Environment version 17 (JRE) in your system. If you need to download it, you can do so from Oracle's website. It is not necessary to download the full SDK.

  3. If you are updating to Java 17, set up the JAVA_HOME variable. Read this article to learn how to do it.

  4. Download and replace the JAR file with the new version. To learn how to do it, read Download the new Printing Component.

Download the new Printing Component

The first step in the setup of the printing component is downloading the JAR file you need to install on your server. To download this file, do the following instructions:

  1. Go to Setup and select Settings.

  2. Click on Manage Remote Printers from the Shipping group of settings.

  3. Click on Download Printing Component.

Once you complete these instructions, the system will automatically download the JAR file you need to proceed with the installation.

You need to download the new version from the remote printer settings.

Update the Printing Component

To update the printing component, do the following instructions:

  1. Open the existing KometPrinter-PRODUCTION folder in your C: Drive.

  2. Stop the service by running the stop.bat file as an administrator.

  3. Replace the existing KometPrinter.jar file with the new one.

  4. Restart the service by running the start.bat file as an administrator.

You can also use the Windows terminal to stop and start the service.
