How to Pre-Authorize a Credit Card Payment

Overview

In this section we will show you how to activate and use the Credit Card Pre-Authorization option within the Clearent Integration.  

This feature allows you to ensure funds are available without completing the credit card process.  In effect you have reserved funds allowing you to complete the transaction once a final amount is known.

Companies using this feature must have good A/R management processes.  Using Pre-Authorization places obligations on your company to complete the capture of the Pre-Authorization within 24 hours.  Pre-Authorizations captured after that time are normally subject to higher discount rates.

In order to pre-authorize transactions, first you need to activate the Clearent Integration to do this, please follow these steps:
